We are delighted to announce the calling of Reverend Jeff Shaver to be the new full-time solo pastor of our 160-year-old congregation.

Following a two and a half-year search the congregation unanimously supported the recommendation of its five-person Pastor Nominating Committe in electing him to fill a three-year vacancy. Reverend Shaver, 40, has more than 20 years of ministry experience, including serving as a youth director, preacher, and teacher across diverse church settings.

He was drawn to ministry while in college at New Mexico State University where he graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Individualized Studies with a minor in History. His initial goal was to become a history teacher, and he still maintains a love of history. However, involvement in a college ministry program led him to another career path and he graduated with a Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas in 2014. Currently he is the Associate Pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville, North Carolina.

“What matters most in a church isn’t size or style,” Reverend Shaver said. “It is heart, the courage to love deeply, to listen well, and to remain open to what God might do next.” He says he wants to become rooted, invested, and present in the life of the congregation.

“I don’t just want to lead this wonderful congregation,” he said. “I want to walk alongside them in building something lasting, anchored in honesty and sustained by hope, and always marked by compassion.” Reverend Shaver is driven by a passion for preaching that tells the truth.  He said his sermons are based on Scripture that is woven with story, and always grounded in grace. He is committed to creating spaces where people can bring both their faith and their questions, their strength and their wounds.

Born and raised near Albuquerque, New Mexico, Reverend Shaver is a third degree black belt with a passion for building community by teaching martial arts to kids and families.  He also is a co-host of a Disney podcast and admits a love for all things Disney, with an emphasis on the animation portion of film making.  He also is the proud dog-dad to two energetic dogs.

Pastor Shaver is expected to begin his ministry

with the Presbyterian Church of Red Bluff

on August 1, 2025.

About Us

We believe Jesus Christ calls our congregation together to:

~~worship God joyfully,

~~welcome all through our spirit of fellowship;

~~teach and inspire Christian living;

~~reach out to the community and the world;

~~follow Christ's example by serving others.

Our Values

Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.

Music Ministry

Our music ministry is strong and uplifting. We have several ways to join in the wonders of making a joyful noise unto the Lord. All are welcome to join, or simply to be appreciative listeners.

The chancel choir is conducted by Darlene Lee and accompanied by Grace Ramley on piano. In addition, various musicians with other gifts accompany the choir on occasion. Chancel choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings.  All are welcome to join the chancel choir.

The hand chimes ensemble, directed by Grace Ramley, brings us beautiful music each month. They meet to rehearse at the church on Wednesday mornings.  All are welcome to join the chime ensemble.

They enrich our worship.

About

For 18 years we have been privileged to host a Saturday choir workshop directed by the esteemed Alan Petker. The workshop is open to all; contact the church office to receive an enrollment form for the next workshop on February 21 and performance on February 22, 2026.

Choir members join our worship service on Sunday to share the joy brought through music. Petker Sunday is a highly anticipated worship service.

Each year on Reformation Sunday we

recognize and honor the ties between the Presbyterian Church

and Scotland.

The Jefferson Pipe Band joins us to celebrate the tradition that grounds our faith on Reformation Sunday.

Those who attend that Sunday worship service are invited to wear their family tartan.

Reformation Sunday is always the last Sunday in October, marking the occasion in 1517 when Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the church door in Wittenberg, Germany.
